While I'm busy setting up google alert , I just got an email from Gee. It is about the giveaway of a PR3 Blog - TheTwitterer . A blogspot blog with a nice blogspot domain.

For those who are making money with paid blogging surely know the value of the pagerank. Okay , that really is not an interest for me. Telling the truth the blog name is more interesting - The Twitterer! What a good brand for a person who like to tweet, who spent most of leisure time tweeting, and who make a little money by tweeting. However, same as Gee, I am also a really busy person. I'm not able to add one more blog to my busy schedule.

I think I have to pass this awesome opportunity, although this is a very good one. Too much good thing sometimes can be a bad thing. While I'm 'struggling' to maintain my blogs, adopting another blog is not an option right now.

This is the first post for 2010

Soooo late...

But better late than never.

So what is the resolution regarding contest this year?

This year will be a very busy year. Look like there are not much contest can be joined due to time constraint. However simple contest will be a top priority!

For last year there are a lot of contest has been joined, such as top commentator contest , SEO contest, Lucky draw contest, review contest and simple copy and paste contest.

I am doing well in review contest and top commentator contest. But for lucky draw and SEO contest - the result has not been good. One is luck , the later one is require time and very competitive.

So for this year? The contests to be joined mostly will be the simple contest.

Preference : review contest and copy and paste contest.

There is an article by RajaKamil regarding contest. It is a cool article. And fortunately this blog niche is also online contest. Which is are really nice niche if we develop this blog properly.

So how to go viral with contest?

This is the guide given by Raja Kamil in his blog:

1. Post an entry to your blog. State there you are going to do a small contest.

2. Set the rules as easy as it can be.

3. Make sure you put viral element in your contest such as,

tweet this sentence (which inlude the your contest url)
post this quote to blog
etc

4. State clearly what present you offer for a winner. I suggest, it is not a cash, unless it is so much

Hrm.. this seems a good lesson for us.

There are three interesting keyword there :

Small - I have seen a big contest which cancelled after a while. I made mistake when I always planning for grand contest.
Easy - Yerps the esiaer the better. From my experience organizing contest. Easy rules make it easy for both parties, the participant and also the organizer.
Viral Element - This is the key to go viral! without this...

About the prize, I like the idea of a non-cash .. but cash also ok, but with reasonable price.. RM10 for a simple contest will be necessary

I am currently organizing two contests:

1. Komen Oktober (October's Commenter Contest) at Zul's Blog which is OPEN FOR MALAYSIAN

2. Weblog Popular 1Malaysia Giveaway at this Blog which OPEN TO ALL visitor.

Both Contest are started at 2nd October and ends on 31st October Malaysian Time.

The first Contest is some kind of top commenter Contest but with some addition on the prizes. It combines the element of Top Commenter and Lucky draw and Best Commentator Contests. As for now, it receive a good response from local Bloggers.

While the second contest are simpler. Participant just basically need to copy a sentence and make a blog post that includes the sentence. According to the response until now, it seems that the contst does not have a good response yet.

This post is just to share this weblog progress in Weblog Popular 1Malaysia Contest. For this contest, this weblog has been at top 4 in the Google SERP for keyword "Weblog Popular 1Malaysia" for quite some time. The position now dropped suddenly mostly because of two factors:

a) I am optimizing the blog for SEO purpose, so Google will take some time to change the title of this post about "Weblog Popular 1Malaysia" . Originally the title for each post start with My Online Contest, but now it started with the topic first followed by the blog name like this: "Weblog Popular 1Malaysia Contest Progress ~ My Online Contest"

b) Aggressive campaign by other participants. Look like most of the participant are taking last minute measures. One of the participant , Precious now taking part with more blogs, one of the blog have a good ranking in Google SERP for the keyword. Having more blog can be quite helpful to win this weblog popularity contest. She also organizing a giveaway to as a way to win this contest. MomsBloggerPlanet (MBP) take more aggressive actions. Those nominating MBP will be given 500 points which can be change with some product at MBP.

My Approach

If you read this post entitled Weblog Popular 1Malaysia - ContestManiac.net, I originally plan to win the weblog popularity contest by organizing a contest with ContestManiac.net but it cannot be proceed yet.

If I want to do it myself, it sure take a lot of my time which already allocated for my other commitments - "Raya" Preparation, Part Time Business, and also commitment at workplace .

The weblog popular 1Malaysia online contest which organized by denaihati, is now start to be competitive. The participant is now aggressively promoting their blog to be nominated or being a referral for the contest. Some blogger are doing giveaways in to attract so that other blogger will nominate them as the Weblog Popular 1Malaysia or as the referral for Weblog Popular 1Malaysia contest. Looking at the competitiveness of the contest, I think this is also a correct time for me to join the fun. Not by joining the contests, but by organizing this type of "in Conjunction" contest or should I called "Contest in Contest".

I just contacted my friend , the ContestManiac.Net admin to work together to grab weblog Popular 1Malaysia Prizes. Doing this alone must be very hard, I am very busy lately. Coincidentally he is also super duper busy right now and the unlucky part is he has been not feeling well for more than one week. Poor him. Luckily its not H1N1.

Its not just a Blog for contest listing without any niche. Furthermore the admin also quite experienced in organizing contest. Now the blog left not updated for quite some time due to busy schedule.

So how can I win this contest? Still thinking.. Hopefully I get the idea. I already have some in my head right now, just need to make it more organized. When I am thinking back, yeah its not a big deal, at first I only join this Weblog Popular 1Malaysia contest for getting traffic. Now I make quite a good progress in Google SERP for keyword " Weblog Popular 1Malaysia", its boost my confidence to grab one of the prizes in this contest. I must find a simple solution.

When I am free, I usually take some time to search for new contests , or even joining contests which is one of my favorite leisure time activity besides playing chess , reading, sleeping etc.

There are a lot of contests available on the net. Various online contest actually , top commentator contest, referral contest, sweepstakes, tweet and win , review contest and many more. I wont be joining all the contest for sure. Some contest like photo contest, and design contest does not suit me yet.

Yesterday came an idea in my mind. "Zuls why don't you just tell others about all the contests" - This is great.. sharing is caring! The more the merrier right?

I am not going to blog about it, blogging takes time. Twitter is the correct answer! So this maybe helpful for those who are connecting with me on twitter. As I am searching for contest, I can always tweet about it. Regardless of whether I am joining or not.

But there will be also something which will probably bother you. I am not going to create new twitter account just for announcing contest. I did tried to have multiple account before, but its not worth my time.

So beside contests tweet, there will be other tweets as well. That can be I am replying to my Malay friend in Malay language, sponsored tweet which I make some money from it, and my tweets which can be boring to you.

Anyway I have a counter measure for this. Except for Tweet and Win Contest, I can just put a label to the tweets! Right now I am planning to use #MyOnlineContest hashtag in my tweet. Or do you have any cool hashtag to use?

Tomorrow, 31st August 2009 , Malaysia will be celebrating 52nd year of Independence Day or called Merdeka. The Merdeka Celebration this year is expected not to be as grand as last year. I believe due to the H1N1 and Ramadhan. However the Malaysia Internet Community are looking forward to celebrating Merdeka our own way.

I noticed there a few campaigns available for this Merdeka Celebration:

1) Twitter Merdeka
This is a campaign where Malaysian Tweeps will be adding #Merdeka in every tweet during #Merdeka Day. The target is to get the word #Merdeka in Twitter Trending Topic.

2) I love Malaysia Twibbon (Twitter Ribbon)

I was invited by cornyman to sponsor a contest which I originally looking forward to join. This is a big contest for those joining EntreCard Community. If you're net yet joining EC , you better do, its good for your blog traffic, and its FREE too.

To Join or to Sponsor? Seems easy but not that easy, I need to briefly list down the benefit of both.

If I join the contest

The prizes are good : a lot of ECs and some Money to be won.

More ECs = More Ads can be placed meaning more traffic, I can make EC giveaway etc..

The thrill of waiting for the result is fun, thats why I am joining contests in the first place.

What If I Sponsor the contest?

July 2009 without me joining actively in online contest. I joined one top commentator contest at reezluv.com but not giving so much focus on it. I also joined a Lucky Draw contest by zon artis. The contest is quite unique where I can increase the chance to win by collecting tickets. I collected more than 10 tickets already. Let see whether I have any luck in this.

As for the top commentator contest at denaihati's blog. I dont really have time to participate in the contest. Let other people grab the prize. As for top commentator contest at reezluv.com, its just ended at 12.00 midnight , look like I got second place (without any prize).

Top Commentator or Lucky Draw?

There are a lot of online contests nowadays. I wish to join all the contests, but off course time is limited.

I just missed quite a few contests, especially the easier contest. My preference look alike towards top commentator contests compared to other contests. Which is not very effective for me. I start to think about the chances of winning an online contests and the tactics to get the prizes.

Taking two extreme conditions, top commentator contests vs Some Simple Lucky Draw Contests.

To win top commentator contests is very depended on the effort while "some simple lucky draw contests" depends on probability. One you can fight to win which requires a lot of effort depends on your competitor, the other one is easy to enter and requires near to no effort at all.

My plan is to join the lucky draw contests as much as possible to increase chances of winning and focusing in one or two online contests depending on the niche and prizes. Maybe this weekend I can start searching for suitable contests.

Personally I never expect to win this online contest since I seldom online to give competitive challenges to other contestants.

Really! It is very true.

I am participating in a Top Commenter Contest right now. But slow loading time obviously affect my commenting performance. Why?

Try to imagine this situation.

It tooks more than 5 seconds for the web to load, another 5 second to see the commenting section, It tooks another at least 10 to 30 seconds to write comments. And to send comment takes another few seconds.
Quite not productive, right?

I am using Internet Explorer in my "quite fast computer". Sometimes it crash.

I am now downloading Mozilla Firefox. Hopefully it gets faster.

Time factor is very crucial.

I joined another online contest for a while called Cabaran komen terbanyak Rkb by my friend RajaKamil. This is a Top Commentator Contest . The task is simple I just need to comment on the blog as much as I can and I have opportunities to win some easy money, Hopefully an ebook from RajaKamil.

The contest has been conducted for 4 weeks , 1 more weeks left for me, look like I have chance to win third place if I tried my best. The winner maybe wanmus or Yoji.

Hrm ... If I won third place I will be getting :

I joined an SEO Contest by Jombincang.com forums. Just joined last two days. The contest is to put a non-indexed site to first page of Google SERP for search keyword "Melayu Boleh."

I created my blog early this week. At first my blog is not yet indexed by Google. I just check it today it is already recognise by Google. The URL of the blog is http://www.melayuboleh-blog.blogspot.com/

Most of people already joined for one month. At the moment I am short of time. One month left for me. FYI, the keyword Melayu Boleh which carry a positive intention has been used for bad things. That is why I joined this contest. Plus I can test my SEO skill.
